You left your plans at home, right? Then you're all set.

Hi there!
I'm Dokko, your guide at Amudena.
I'm actually a burr seed, the kind that hitches a ride on passersby's clothes and travels.
This time, I'm sticking to you!
“Amudena” is Korean for “anywhere.” Wherever the wheel lands, that’s where you’re going.

Just four promises before we go!

Stay 1Eat 1Café 1See 1 Stay 1, Eat 3, Café 1, See 2...
calling things by number is handy.
Like "Call Stay 3!"

I'll tell you just a little of what I know.
A city right east of Daegu, with lots of universities gathered together. There's a reason a street is called 'Daehak-ro' (University Street)!
Up north in Wachon-myeon is Palgongsan's Gatbawi; down south in Namsan-myeon are Bangokji and the Samseonghyeon History & Culture Museum.
Autumn is peak season. On the third weekend of October, the Jujube Festival and the UNICA Korea International Film Festival overlap!

💡TIP! Dates change every year. Quietly check with 1330 before you go.

I only picked places with phone numbers.
Whether there's a free room...
you'll have to call to find out!
💡TIP! Addresses are kept in Korean so you can show them to locals.
In an alley off Wonhyo-ro in Jungbang-dong, a new place licensed in 2025. 20 rooms.
A hotel in Hayang-eup, licensed in 2025. It has a whole 54 rooms.
A tourist hotel at Sangdae Hot Spring in Namsan-myeon. 50 rooms.
A rural guesthouse in Jain-myeon. A cozy spot with 7 rooms.
A hotel in an alley off Jangsan-ro in Sambuk-dong. 29 rooms.
A 6-story hotel on Jisiksaneop-ro in Hayang-eup. 29 rooms.
A motel on the 6th to 8th floors of a building on Gyeongan-ro in Jungbang-dong. 28 rooms.
A place in Oksan-dong. Even the name says Best! 25 rooms.

I can't tell if they're famous, either.
Just remember one signature dish and go!
I also put in two cafés for a cup of tea!
A spicy stir-fried duck place on Gatbawi-ro. They have potato pancakes too. Open every day.
A bakery next to Hayang Resort Area. Their signature bread is called 'Daefrica'! Open until 10 p.m.
A beef place. Skirt meat is the signature, and they have fresh rib finger meat too. Open every day.
A pork stew place right in front of Jain Public Market. Closed Sundays, and hours may change, so give them a call.
Prime rib finger meat is the signature, and they have cauldron rice soup too. They take a break from 3 to 5 p.m.
A sashimi place in seaside-free Gyeongsan, named East Sea! Assorted sashimi is the signature, and they have mulhoe too. Closed Mondays.
Samgyetang is the signature, and they have cold noodles and beef pancakes too. Samgyetang, then finish with cold noodles?
A Chinese restaurant on Daehak-ro. Samseon jjajangmyeon is the signature, and they have course meals too, they say. Break from 3 to 5 p.m.
A café in Namsan-myeon. Black sesame cream latte is the signature, and they have melon bingsu too. Closed Tuesdays.
A café on Gatbawi-ro. True to Gyeongsan, they have homemade jujube tea! Open every day.

I picked just 8 spots.
We'll meet the rest on the road.

The Gatbawi-side entrance to Palgongsan National Park. You head up from Wachon-myeon.
A temple in Wachon-myeon you reach by following Gatbawi-ro up. Café 'Cafe.803' is on the same road.

A reservoir in Bangok-ri, Namsan-myeon. Café 'Chalseuano' is in Namsan-myeon too.

A cluster of ancient tombs spread across Imdang-dong and Joyeong-dong. Nice to see together with the Imdang Archaeological Site Exhibition Hall.

An exhibition hall showing the Imdang-dong site. Drop by before you look around the tombs.

A history and culture museum inside Samseonghyeon Park in Namsan-myeon. Jaraji Reservoir has the very same address.

A pond right in the middle of town in Gyeyang-dong. Nammae Park is in the same neighborhood too.

A forest on Gyejeong-gil in Jain-myeon. How about pairing it with a Jain Public Market day (3rd & 8th)?

Gyeongsan Public Market opens on days with a 5 or a 10, Hayang Public Market on days with a 4 or a 9, and Jain Public Market on days with a 3 or an 8!
💡TIP! There may be markets not listed here. Ask a local, "여기 장 언제 서요? (yeo-gi jang eon-je seo-yo?)"

The answers aren't in this book.
The locals know the real ones.
💡TIP! Show the Korean sentence as is, or read it out loud.

Keep money talk tidy!
